Arantxa's Application

#1 Post by Arantxa » Mon Jan 28, 2008 1:29 pm

Name: Tarik
Age: 38
Location: NYC

How I Found Out About Lang: I transferred my World of Warcraft PvP warrior to Rexxar, hoping to start a new career as a casual raiding tank. I read a post on the forums. I liked what I read. I whispered a member of the Logic guild. Then I joined.

Which Games I Play: World of Warcraft. That’s it. I’m considering buying Hellgate: London but I doubt I will. I don’t have a ton of time to game and WoW takes a ton of time.

Likes: Reading. Playing with my kid. Bad TV. Fixing and riding bikes. Beer. Often my wife.

Dislikes: Taking oneself too seriously. Not taking anything seriously ever. Bad humor.

Biography: I am a dad a husband and a lawyer. I live in Brooklyn across the street from a sweet museum. I never go to the museum. I like good comedy and books and films about zombies and/or dystopic futures. I am good at keeping my cool. I’m not a wacky ton of outrageous fun but I am reasonably quick-witted and a decent person to be around.

Why I Should Be a Member: I am learning to tank! I know basically all pre-Kara content very well and Kara though Shade too. And I have a shadow priest and a druid I can bring over if everything works out. All are geared or overgeared for heroics/Kara. And I am a gentleman at almost all times. And I have a dry wit and a helpful demeanor. I’d love to have a key role in a casual raiding Warcraft guild made up of decent-hearted adults, hopefully doing 10-mans twice a week or so.

I can't possibly defend playing a sword-and-prancing-elves MMO -- let alone playing it a LOT -- so I am not even going to try.

Ah, well... WoW-bashing is pretty standard around here, so you've given yourself a head-start at ignoring it.

I dunno... it's rather philosphical! Like "I am what I am, what I have always been and always will be!" Like something out of the Lord of the Rings... :)

Welcome to our corner of the world Tarik. Nice to see a grown-up around here although I'm still the Elder. (In age if not in maturity...) 8) I'm also "Married with Kids" and find causual gaming, drinking beer and exchanging bad jokes on the Net is a good way to wind down. Atm I'm trying to find a way to get WoW to connect to American server so I can join the fun! (The problem is my exisiting European install...)

I'll try to fool my boss to let me put in some OT to finance a new rig.... 8)

Don't do it, you'll regret it like I do.

The game is too linear. Its hard to play with friends because you're never in the same place unless one of you backtracks. Apparently they released a big patch sorta recently and fixing parties was a big thing but I haven't tried it out yet.

Also, I was unaware of the subscriber mode when I bought it. I thought it was more of a diablo 3. A lot of the planned benifits for subscribers have been given to everyone now (up to 24 characters instead of 3 for example), but they're putting in more subscriber only areas/classes/quests/items as time goes on.

If you got around to the WoW part of the site you would see more of my many (12) posts in action. Or better yet, if you played WoW, I could lead you through many creepy dungeons filled with scary trident-wielding fishmen and angry pirates.
