So, can someone explain the decision process for me? I mean, I know what I have to do to "make good as an interested candidate," I was just wondering how the decision is made. Is there a poll, or is it more like "When Java says you're in, you're in" kinda thingy?

Sometimes members have polls or start a thread but ultimately it is Java's decision (usually months...not a bad thing...he makes sure the interested candidate sticks around/is in it for the long haul), so basically what you have said is correct...
Keep doing what you doing (posting, playing, being on vent)...
